what's Donky?
- Bio:
Donky Pitch began in Brighton in the summer of 2009, born out of two peoples' frustration with the local club scene and coinciding with the rise of synth heavy dancefloor mutations within underground electronic music. At first just a midweek party in a small club below a pub, over the years that followed it has branched out to be a record label and a monthly radio show on hivemind.fm.
The label kicked off in 2010 with a split release drawing from two of the party's residents, Slugabed and Ghost Mutt, and has since released records by Nino, V.C. and 813 as well as a free three part EP series focusing on local producers. 2012 will see releases from Keyboard Kid, Ghost Mutt and ARP101 & Yorke.
Sticking true to their roots, Donky Pitch continue to promote club nights and have hosted the Brighton debuts for Debruit, Mweslee, Shlohmo, Salva, Alexander Nut, Blue Daisy, Lapalux and Tokimonsta, as well as giving local producers and DJs a platform to perform. On top of their love for synth and bass music, they are the UK's premier exponent of Skweee; hosting not only the UK premier of the 'We Call it Skweee' documentary but also the UK's first ever Skweee showcase in March 2011.
Now taking their sound (via residents Slugabed, Ghost Mutt, Boss Kite & Grinel) to cities around Europe, including a showcase at Glade Festival, Donky Pitch show no sign of slowing down into 2012 and beyond. We're excited to be working with such a forward thinking label, and are looking forward to watching Skweee take off big-time in the near future.

Ever get that feeling you’ve stumbled upon someone on the verge of big things? SELA is once such discovery. For cloud rap fans, that Main Attrakionz, Ryan Hemsworth and the A$AP Mob have shown an interest in the 18 year old producer speaks volumes. It took me a couple of evenings to get round to concocting a post for High-Rise, during which time I listened through his whole Bandcamp three or four times. I am suitably besotted with his sound. Have a listen to his latest release below.

- Looney Goons Tour Sampler
Dibia$e has been working on some rather filthy new material ahead of a US album release tour. Looney Goons is comes out later next month, but you can pre-order it over at Fat Beats now or pick up a copy at one of his live shows. Luckily for those who can’t make it across to the US, Dibia$e put together a very loud sample mix. It’s free to download for a limited time only apparently, so best hit the button quick smart.

- rl grime - grapes
the first release on wedidit comes courtesy of rl grime, with a seriously nice blend of styles. grapes alla vodka will make the dancefllor loose its’ shit but it’s grape’s subtler moments that made me click download. treadstone (nod to matt damon) and amphibian both smacking it. the ep is backed with remixes from the wedidit team - groundislava expanding minds as per usual. oh, and if you’re quick, you can get a tombstone patch.
- dolor - a chapel of velvet
so i’m only like 10 months late on this one, but this free release from dolor is kinda special. i copped (and enjoyed) the tape he made with lorn late last year, but some of the tracks on here are way better, ‘pull me in’ and ‘a chapel of velvet’ (which is a great name btw) in particular.

We mentioned Lee Bannon a couple of weeks back in anticipation of his latest instrumental project, the Caligula Theme Music EP. Well here it is, available in full to stream or download for the princely sum of $3.99.
